United States of America

Three great links from three folks that I find very interesting to read.

First is a piece by Mark Steyn, who writes about some things that are wrong with this country.

Victor Davis Hanson also writes on America coasting on the fumes of past greatness.

And finally Blaine Leutkemeyer, my congressman, leaves us with a more positve note on the fourth of July.

For my part, i am very worried about our country, and the direction we are heading.  What made us great is that we defiantly set up a system that did not empower government to run our lives but instead tried to put chains on government so they could not screw things up.  It seems they have broken free of their chains.  Cronyism and abuse of power are running amok.  If the American people are made of the stuff I think they are they will rise up and reassert themselves, and once again chain their government.

Let's hope there are enough of us left who know what to do and care deeply enough to do it.
