The Missouri legislature passed a welfare reform that added job training benefits but cut the length of time people can stay on public assistance by one year, from 5 years to 4 years.
The bill only affects TANF benefits, so federal SNAP and other benefits would not change.

The Governor vetoed the bill. Now the legislature is working to override his veto.
I can understand that some would like to see these benefits return to their original purpose of getting people back on their feet and self sufficient. I can also see that others may worry about this having a negative effect on the poor.
And then, enter one Charles Jaco. He is a former member of the media with a lot of residual anger and bias. Charles is not what one would call "tolerant" or "unbiased".
Most of us understood that this was a discussion about how to structure the free benefits given to the poor. Apparently we were mistaken. Charles wants to set us straight.
