Mean Spirited Intolerant Vitriol

The Missouri legislature passed a welfare reform that added job training benefits but cut the length of time people can stay on public assistance by one year, from 5 years to 4 years.

The bill only affects TANF benefits, so federal SNAP and other benefits would not change.

You can hear both sides of the issue here. https://vimeo.com/126000262

The Governor vetoed the bill. Now the legislature is working to override his veto.

I can understand that some would like to see these benefits return to their original purpose of getting people back on their feet and self sufficient. I can also see that others may worry about this having a negative effect on the poor.

And then, enter one Charles Jaco. He is a former member of the media with a lot of residual anger and bias. Charles is not what one would call "tolerant" or "unbiased".

Most of us understood that this was a discussion about how to structure the free benefits given to the poor. Apparently we were mistaken. Charles wants to set us straight.

Then he said this.

So I commented.

And then it got nasty.

Then

And

This is the "considerate", even-handed", "unbiased", "thoughtful" "journalist".  I ended by offering him the following.
