Why can't we now live within our means?
Our national debt has now topped $18 trillion, with our Unfunded liabilities topping $100 trillion. China has overtaken the U.S. as the world's top economy. The voters spoke loudly in November, and Republicans now control both the House and the Senate.
Why don't we balance the budget?
I understand the chess games that you are playing with debt ceilings and government shutdowns and public perception. But we did not elect anyone to go to Washington to play games. We elected people to be statesmen, not politicians. We want you to do the right thing.
Cut spending. We cannot do it as ordinary citizens. We elected you to go to Washington and do the right thing, to live within your means.
If not now, when? If not you, then who? People with integrity? BE those people of integrity and shrink the size of government. NOW would be a great time to do the right thing.
Reform the tax code. Eliminate ALL of those loopholes and deductions and subsidies and incentives and exemptions and grants and nonsense. Cut until it balances.
Our children and grandchildren and great grandchildren are getting screwed. We are asking them to pay for things that we want today. I say we should only spend what we take in. Even then we have a monstrous amount of debt to pay off.
Balance the budget and start paying down the debt. Please.
The excuses are gone and the handwriting is on the wall. Seal your place in history by having the courage to do the right thing. Put away your partisan nonsense and rise above to change the paradigm.
We are Eighteen Trillion dollars in debt. Now would be a good time to reverse that. Let's go back to Seventeen Trillion, then keep going.
If not now, when? If not us, then who will do the right thing?
